Thanabalaratnam ‘Anbu’ BalakumaranT. Balakumaran, a resident of Southern California, USA for the past 32 years, suffered a heart attack and passed away at his parent’s home in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. He was visiting Jaffna, to assist his mother with her health needs. Bala is an old boy of St. John’s College, Jaffna (class of 1978) and an alumnus of the University of California, San Diego, where he earned his degree in Computer Science. Over the years he worked for various technology companies in California as a software engineer and was last at Oracle Corporation for ten years. He is the beloved husband of Dr. Gowthamy Balakumaran, (nee Ambalavanar) old girl of Vembadi Girls’ High School, alumna of the Jaffna Medical Faculty and Pediatrician at the Santa Barbara County health clinics. Bala is the loving son of Late Dr. ‘Anbu’ Thanabalaratnam & Mrs. Parameswary Thanabalaratnam of Ariyalai, Jaffna, and the son-in-law of Late Mr. Ambalavarnar & Mrs. Sivaganeswary Ambalavarnar of Colombo 6. He is the dearly loved brother of Chitra (UK), Ranjitha (Norway) , Pushpendra (Norway), and Renuka (UK). All three sisters are old girls of Chundikuli Girls College, Jaffna. My heartfelt condolence to the family of late Dr Thanabalaretnam for the loss of the only son,I'm well known to DrGanesh and the late Mr Seevaretnam from the Vinayakar Temple near their home in ariyalai Jaffna.I also know Late MR V.Ambalavanar the son of late Mr Visvalingam (Tuition master for my late brother).Both his brothers Mr V.Maheswaran & Dr T.Ruthreswaran knows me well.It is a sad loss at very young age. May god bless his soul.
